I LOVE SYLVAN PARK!! While living in Sylvan Park for over 12 years, I sat as Vice President and Steering Committee Member of the Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association (SPNA), chaired the Sylvan Park Home Tours, was Editor of the Sylvan Park Newsletter, co-chaired the annual NOAC (Night Out Against Crime), co-chaired the Releaf Nashville effort after the 1998 tornado, and made this trendy neighborhood my home base. I loved it when my neighbors would stop by and knock on my front door because they wanted to see the progress on my home renovations. I loved it when I was out jogging and my neighbors would call out and beg me to come in and see their new kitchen renovation or paint. I loved it when I would see our local Sheriff or Councilperson at the local pub and they would tell me all things Nashville!
The first time I remember freshly cut wood, it was in the early 1960s while playing in the sawdust at the original Gibson Guitar plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan where my dad made guitars. The second time was in the mid-60's when my dad was building our house. I would love to sit there and watch him cut the lumber. The smells and sounds made my heart sing!
I carried the love of building things into my business career. I built my career on my love of the legal arena, management of people and processes, as well as the creative aspect of sales. Having worked for Los Angeles and Nashville stellar law firms of Latham+Watkins and Bass Berry+Sims, as a Contracting Consultant for CIGNA Healthcare, with Michigan's Consumers Energy, as well as in retail management early on in my career, I developed skills that allowed me to excel in running my own real estate business and advocating as a shrewd negotiator for my clients.
As a result of selling real estate all over Nashville since 1997, I am an expert on Music City properties. My career started at Village Real Estate under the mentorship of Nashville's urban pioneer, Mark Deutschmann. I left Village for a brief period of time but came back in 2010, to the place I call "home." Village has always been on the cutting edge of Nashville real estate, whether it be historic neighborhoods, urban infill and condo development, or modern new construction. Village is the perfect fit for my experience and skills. I currently sit on the Environmental Committee at GNAR and want to encourage people to "Go Green" in their existing and new construction homes.
